We can only see this world from our own two eyes. Well, without the help of maybe a camera. Or the little devices that were first coined for communication and now they seem like they were merely created to satisfy a need for celebrity news, discourse, and or an escape from reality. Or is our fascination a need for "heroes" and/or people to look up to in today's world? We can sometimes gain another perspective through these figures they portray. See anther's struggle or view on things. Perspective is everything.
This country was founded by men who stood up for what they believed in. And they stood up to a superpower. Yea it sounds like a teenage tantrum of "I don't wanna, you're not the boss of me!" But this is in our blood, the fight for what is right, we want to be heroes. The original superhero and martyr (hey-zues) is the most common hero story, and others like Hercules and John Henry inspired us that just one man can do powerful things. Paul Revere is a more historical example, or a real hero of that time. He rode all night to warn others. Not a war hero like Washington, but still a hero. And when you gain Perspective on the subject Paul was a very, very, important part of our success.
The problem nowadays is loosing your Perspective during the telling of these stories. These movies and celebrities portray merely stories. They are not our new religions, or things that should take up all of our time. (Yes I'm talking to you ComiCon nerds) I think some people in the limelight have no real contribution to society, so that's why they do charities. They need to know that they're doing something for others rather than be put on screen to murder free time. But we appreciate their work because face it, everyone can be enthralled by a dialog exchange... or a pretty face.
Then this... disturbed character (don't call him a man, he's no longer human), this shooter who lacks "humanity" came along. I feel he might be taking a stab at society and like a moth to a flame he has the world's attention. Did he just want some attention? Sometimes.... these... characters, just like the taste of blood. Since its topical lets bring up a quote from the second Batman movie: Michael Cane's Character 'Alfred' describes the 'Joker' as a man that just "wants to watch the world burn." These characters lack the ability to truly put themselves in others shoes. They lack perspective. We have to think of the "greater good" and other's feelings. Other's lives. Not throw (dare I say) "tantrums." Sometimes we need to take that step back. It can be the most important step one takes in their life. whether its to cool down or to just ponder a decision three seconds longer.
So step back, before you come up with permanent solutions to temporary problems. Come to terms with existence and that there is a bigger picture, bigger than you, bigger than a country. But coming to terms with this has its price... and our egos are the cost. Most people can't handle the simple fact that we are only (1) person, opinion, or soul on this blessed ball of rock that allows us to live. We share this "life" with many other creatures, not just men. that alone makes you feel more alone. but it is important to keep in your head. Think of others.
*This picture is used to show a healthy man walking away from someone in need.
Some people can't hang, I've heard people say "if there is no heaven I'll just kill myself, 'cause there's no point." No point?! Really?! Just because you might not get your eternal bliss or an immortal soul in your own special way you're just going to give up? Or be pissed off at the world and kill others?! (Terrorist bastards I'm pointing my finger at you) These selfish idiots would like nothing more than to make others feel powerless, treat others an "insignificants" and take this privilege of life away from them. Maybe they felt powerless, and now they must do the same to others. But this "Power" people flaunt is a kind of control over others. (Control freaks) Be it money or strength. People like to flex this muscle, but "real gangsta ass n***** don't flex nuts, because real gangsta ass n***** know they got 'em."
*This picture shows your actual control over people. People can loose sight of this and think they can change everyone's mind. They cannot.
"Control" or "Power" in this case is a double edged sword, "Great Power=Great Responsibility." Nuff said. If you have "control," don't abuse it. Show a different kind of control. Do onto others...and all that shit.
We can't change a lot of things. A lot is out of our control circle. But there is no use blowing up a building, or killing mass amounts of people over the fact that we feel powerless or stuck. Taking people with you on your way out of this world is fucking childish. Another temper tantrum. Aw, so what? You didn't win? Or you didn't get a thank you? Is that it? Baby got a boo boo? Didn't the phrase get pounded into you ever time you hit the asphalt as a child? :"Why do we fall? to get back up." I LOVE the feeling I get when I've been physically hurt and on the ground, but I can still put my fists on the ground and push myself back up. I see it as pushing myself away from rock bottom, and afterwords I stand tall. Every fall is worth it, every mistake or failure is just another chapter in your life or success story.
I believe in this at least, but I grew up playing organized sports where I learned to be a part of a TEAM. Human Race=Same Team. It can be expensive but organized sports help children learn to take orders (something parents need help teaching nowadays), and play well with others. They will play outside more and be happy with little more than their imaginations to entertain them. And they probably won't need a new video game, or toy every week. They can get joy from getting better at a sport, learning new skills and learning new ways to play with others. Invaluable lessons. And they can learn sacrifice. Its a huge lesson! Even the captain of a team devotes himself to helping every. He even sacrifices himself for the team.
*Go Team hot chick!
"Self sacrifice to appreciate what you've been given.
When it's gone you'll know exactly what you've been missin'.
Lend a hand, and do what's right, you only get one life.
Take the good the with bad, 'cause this is the last time you'll see 'tonight'.
...ever again."
-Eli Moody
So give up yourself a bit, throw yourself under the bus for someone else. You'll realize how good you have it sometimes. Ghandi tried to teach a lot of people to loose the ego, but some people were only trying to find enlightenment, their own personal goals. Some missed the whole purpose. Get over yourself, your problems aren't as big as you think.
Take me for an example, for the past MONTH I thought I had completely lost faith in the world. I couldn't believe that others would actually come to terms with these simple lessons we were taught many years ago. But I have learned to let go. I am no one special, I am one man. I breathe, close my eyes, feel the breeze on my face and then open them. that breeze is the world breathing new life and new patience back into me. I must not give up everything, move away and throw a tantrum, I must endure. take a step back, breathe. and move on past personal set backs and public tragedies.
I read the other day that two men threw themselves in front of their significant others and died shielding them in that movie theater. One of them a serviceman. he got over himself and under the gun, to save his wife. that meant the WORLD to me.
I now think of that man, Jonathon Blunk aged 26, and he has restored my faith in humanity. Even though I myself might get through the day just to see sit on my ass and play video games ... There are others out there... people that are worth a damn.... Heroes.
So even though this rocked everyone, I think we can move on. Christian Bale visited those in the hospital in Colorado. Very, very, awesome of him.
Heroes will stand up and answer the call. They understand the greater good. Because a hero has Perspective, and puts others before himself. He can see the bigger picture is bigger than ourselves. He will fight for you even though we don't always fight for them. Help someone out today. For me.
